An aspiring poet at the age of 74
An inspiring story of Sushma Khaturia (Khyaal Community Member)
"I have always been a happy-go-lucky person who loves interacting with people and listening to music. I started my career as a lecturer but after marriage, I took a 10-year break. As my children started going to school I thought of giving my career another shot.
I began teaching in the same school where my children used to go. After a 25-year-long journey of teaching, I retired in the year 2009. Post-retirement I took up writing as a hobby.
I always scribbled in my diary and one day my daughter saw the diary and asked me to open a Facebook page. I created my Facebook page in 2012 and since then have been posting on it. I have written content on social issues, current affairs, festivals, inner thoughts and poems related to various topics. I remember the first thing I wrote was poems on Gandhiji and Anna Hazare.
As a senior citizen, I was absolutely new to the digital world of posting content, which was challenging for me. But at every step, my daughter helped me to operate my page and also gifted me a laptop which encouraged me to write even more.
I believe creative minds are set to be free and I personally write when a thought flashes to my mind. My goal is to see my poems being published somewhere and continue posting on Facebook and other social media platforms." - Sushma Khaturia (Khyaal Community Member)
